Obituary of Luise Rabideau

Luise Rabideau died after a long and valiant fight against Alzheimer's Disease. She was born on 12 January 1923 in Zeyersvorderkampen, Kreis Grosses Werder, Freie Stadt Danzig to Richard Senger and Frieda Recht. Her death was on 4 January 2015 at 2335 (officially registered as 5 January 2015 at 0006). Luise grew up on the Senger family farm with her brother Erich, attending primary school in the village of Zeyer and secondary schools and Business College in Elbing, Westpreussen, Germany. Following her schooling, she served in the Deutsche Luftwaffe, completing her war duties in Munich with Luftkommando VII, following Germany's defeat in 1945. After the war, Luise served for numerous years as a German civilian employee in US Army Intelligence, meeting her husband Frederick Rabideau in Oberammergau, Bayern, in the American Zone of Germany. They were married on 27 May 1950. In August of 1954, Luise took her oath of US citizenship. Luise followed Frederick through most of his 21 year military career having two children (Mark and Linda) with him. She lived those years in Texas, Utah, New Mexico, France (Orleans, Metz, and Toul), Massachusetts (Natick and South Hadley), ultimately departing the military life in 1966 with Frederick's retirement at Fort Lewis, Washington. In 1966, they moved to South Hadley, Massachusetts and finally from there to Ballston Lake, New York in 1971 where Luise and Frederick maintained their home. Luise was enthusiastic and expert at handcrafts including: knitting, crochet, needlepoint, and sewing; she taught handcraft classes at Shenendahowa Central Schools for many years. She, also, truly loved her yard, gardens, cats, as well as the local birds and wildlife around her home. She is survived by her husband and best friend, Frederick; her son Mark and his wife Becky, their children Jeremy and Lisa, and her great grand-son Micah; her daughter Linda Ziegler and her husband Joseph, their children Krista and Erich and her great grand-daughter Alexa. We thank her for her caring and her love; we rejoice in her life. No public memorial services will be held. Online condolences www.glenvillefuneralhome.com
