Robert Johnson

Obituary of Robert Johnson

Robert H. Johnson, 76, entered into the arms of the Lord on January 10, 2015, at St. Peter's Hospital. He is predeceased by his parents, Harold A. and Margretta (Baldwin) Johnson, and his sister, Margretta O'Leary. He was born in Malden, Mass., on November 1, 1938. At 12 years old he began working in the family business, H.A. Johnson and Son. The company was a well-known builder of bowling lanes across the country. Bob loved the life God gave him. He truly loved people. He was very proud of his children and their families, their accomplishments, and adored his grandchildren who brought him much joy. Active throughout his life in sports and activities, Bob wanted to try everything. He especially enjoyed building and fixing things working with his hands. He "loved the wood" as his son says. He volunteered in the food pantry at his church and was an usher for 18 years. Bob's joy and enthusiasm will be missed by his Harvest Church family. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Judy Johnson; his sons, Robert and his wife Pauline, Chris and his wife Cindy, and Matthew and his wife Jodie; a brother, Fred and Debbie and grandchildren, Emily (Brian) Chapin, Robert B. (Katie), Lauren, Rebecca, Kaila, Ryan, Isabel, Sarah, Madeline and Matthew Johnson Jr. Bob is also survived by his brothers-in-law, John and Candy and Thomas and Fay McLaughlin and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 18, 2015, following regular services (9:30 a.m.) at Harvest Church, 303 Grooms Road, Clifton Park, Pastor Paul Tebbano officiating. It is requested in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Harvest Church Food Pantry where Bob volunteered for so many years.
