Obituary of Robert Speck
Robert G. Speck, 91, of Jennifer Rd. passed away January 16, 2014 at his home in Glenville.
Born in Albany, he was the son of the late John and Magdalena Mages Speck. He was a graduate of Milne School in Albany and Rochester Institute of Technology. After graduation he worked as a photographer at the Owens Illinois Glass Co., the Watervliet Arsenal and the General Electric Research and development Center, and for the last twenty years of his career in the Biology Department of the NYS University at Albany from which he retired in 1986. He served in the Signal Corp in the U.S. Army and took pictures for the Stars and Stripes. Robert used his photography skills to shoot weddings on the weekend.
He was a member of the Immaculate Conception church in Glenville.
Survived by his wife, Frances (Romano) Speck, he leaves behind a son, Brian S. Speck, daughter-in-law Ann Speck and his granddaughter Alexis.
A graveside service will take place on Monday January 19, at 1:30 PM at St. Anthony's Cemetery, Glenridge Rd. Glenville. A military service will also take place. Relatives and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at 1:15 PM. There will be no public calling hours.
