Obituary of Margaretta Denham

Margaretta R. Denham (Mickie) entered the presence of her Savior on January 20, 2015. She was 84. Mickie was from Schenectady. She graduated from Nott Terrace H.S. and DePauw Univ. She taught at Craig School in Niskayuna, before her long and successful career as mother, homemaker, and grandmother - in Glenville, Lake George and Galway. Mickie loved and served Christ. She was a devoted member of Zion Lutheran Church. She loved to sing in the church choir and play in the bell choir. She sang with other choruses as well. Mickie loved to travel with family; driving trips across the U.S. and to Alaska. She went to Europe, the Caribbean, Peru, Israel, and Kenya. She always had dogs, especially golden retrievers. She enjoyed summers at the family cottage on Lake George, swimming and sailing. Mickie was the wife of the late Frederick Denham. She is survived by her daughter Carol (William) Brown of East Galway, son Larry (Esther) of Glenville, daughter Melodee (Roger) Kopa of Galway; grandchildren Stacy, Shannon, Jonathan, Christopher, Susannah, Sarah, Julianna, and Ray; five great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson. She is missed by her dear cousins Miriam and Justine Andrews. Her daughter Janet Alger pre-deceased her. The family thanks the staff of Heritage Home for Women for their care during Mickie's 9 years there. Please join us for a celebration of her life at Zion Lutheran Church in Schenectady on Sunday, February 1, at 2PM. A reception will follow. Gifts in her memory may be given to Zion Lutheran Church and the Frederick Denham Organ Scholarship, Houghton College, Houghton, NY.
