Obituary of Fiorino Orlando

Fiorino (Fred) Orlando Burnt Hills Fiorino (Fred) Orlando of Burnt Hills and Merritt Island, FL, passed away following a brief illness in Merritt Island, FL, with his family by his side on February 2, 2015. His passing came totally unexpected and he will be sincerelymissed by his family and friends. Fiorino, born December 12, 1938 in Messina, Sicily was the son of Angelo andGiuseppa (Presti) Orlando. He is survived by the love of his life, Frances (Pisano) Orlando; and sons, Frederick J. Orlando and David M. Orlando (wife, Anna); and grandsons, Justin and Adam. Fiorino was predeceased by his brothers, Benedetto, Rocco, Attillio and Sylvio (Tony). He is survived by his youngest brother, Carlo of Sicily; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and very dear friends. Educated in Sicily, Fiorino first came to the United States in 1962, where he met and fell in love with his soul mate, Frances. They had recently celebrated their golden anniversary on August 18, 2013. Fred was a custom master tailor for many of the most reputable men's shops in the Capital Region. It was an era where men dressed professionally to go to work. He later went on to open The Village Tailor Menswear and Formal wear in Scotia, and later in Glenville. The business was operated along with his wife and son. Fiorino's tailoring skills gained him recognition and his expertise to custom fit men's and ladies' clothing made the news when he was chosen by the celebrity Mariah Carey to custom fit her wardrobe for her concert tour at Proctors in the 1990s. Fiorino enjoyed family dinners and spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed horse racing, bowling, listening to Italian music and playing cards. Most of all, he enjoyed wintering in Florida. He was an avid gardener whose tomatoes were enjoyed by all his friends and neighbors in his gated community in Florida. He was proud of his fig trees that he brought back from his family's tree nursery in Sicily. Fred especially enjoyed riding his unique four wheeled bike, watching western movies and Family Feud game shows. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, March 21st at 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, 806 Union St., Schenectady, with the Rev. Richard A. Carlino officiating. A procession will immediately follow to St. Anthony's Cemetery in Glenville.
