Obituary of Steven Israel

Steven J. Israel, 56, died on Thursday, February 12, 2015, at his home in Schenectady. Born in Springfield Illinois, he was the son of the late Marion J. (Boyarsky) Israel and Stephen S. Israel. Steven was a lifelong resident of Schenectady County. He was a member of Niskayuna High School's graduating class of '77. He held memberships in a Star Trek club locally, the USS Slater Destroyer Escort Organization and the Empire State Aeroscience Museum. Steven was a car show enthusiast who couldn't wait for the FIRST SHOW of the season. An avid book reader, his interests ranged from Science Fiction to Tractors. Steven was fascinated with anything having to do with planes, locomotives, automobiles and WWII history. He is survived by his father, Stephen S. Israel; his sister, Judith; his aunts and uncles and his cousins. Memorial services will be held Friday, February 20, at 9 a.m. in the Glenville Funeral Home Chapel, 9 Glenridge Road (off of Route 50), Scotia-Glenville.
