Obituary of Walter Pikor

Walter A. Pikor Jr. Clifton Park Walter A. Pikor Jr., 77, died peacefully at Ellis Medicine on February 17, 2015 with his family by his side. Born in Schenectady on August 12, 1937, he was the son of the late Walter and Celia (Godlewski) Pikor, Sr. Walt was a graduate of Draper High School, growing up in Rotterdam. He was a standout baseball player and received a scholarship to college. Following high school he enlisted with the Army and served his country with pride from 1955-59. He was married at O.L. of Mount Carmel Church in Schenectady to the former Dolores Sorgiovanni on January 20, 1962. The couples home was in Schenectady where they raised a daughter. Walter since the age of 12 was working as a carpenter, a trade learned from his father. In later years they moved to Glenville where Walt and Dolores worked side by side in the construction business. Walt established Pikor Builder's and built homes in Rotterdam and Schenectady. Walter was a member of the Church of the Immaculate Conception. A baseball fan his entire life, Walt's team unequivocally was the NY Mets. He and Dolores were always in attendance for their grandsons sporting events. Life revolved around his family, especially his best buddies, Randy and Rafe. Walt was known for his great sense of humor and was always making people laugh; he had his sense of humor until the end. Walter was predeceased by his sister, Adrienne Tumara. Survivors include his wife, Dolores Pikor; a daughter, Pamela A. Lamboy, and grandsons, Randy John, and Rafe Water Lamboy, all of Clifton Park. Survived by loving sister-in-law, Jenna Kohler, brother-in-law, Frank Sorgiovanni; and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, February 23, at 9 a.m. at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 400 Saratoga Rd. with the Rev. Jerry Gingras officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to call on the family Sunday (Feb. 22) from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd., Glenville (off Rte. 50). Committal services with military honors will be held Monday following Mass at most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.
