Obituary of David MacPherson

David L. MacPherson, Sr., 80, passed away Saturday 3/28/2015 at St. Peter's Hospice surrounded by his loving family. Born on October 30, 1934 in North Sydney, Nova Scotia to the late Neil and Harriet (Leonard) MacPherson, Dave grew up in Reading, MA. He graduated from Northeastern University, receiving a BS in civil engineering in 1957. In October 1962, Dave received his professional engineering license after having relocated to New York State. He worked for NYS DEC until his retirement in 1989. Dave was an adventurer of the outdoors and loved to ski, hike, camp, canoe, and windsurf. He climbed the 46 Adirondack Winter Peaks and at age 60, pedaled his bike from San Diego, CA to St Augustine, FL. He enjoyed many trips on the various boats he owned. Dave is survived by his wife of 56 years, Marie R. (Forte) MacPherson, father of David (Sally), Scott (Christine) and Christopher, grandfather of Daniel (Stephanie), Steven, Joshua, and Ian, brother of Neil (Liz) MacPherson, brother-in-law of Lawrence A.J. Forte, and uncle to many nephews and nieces. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 am on Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at Immaculate Conception Church, 400 Saratoga Rd, Glenville. Memorial contributions may be made in his honor to St. Peter's Hospice in Albany or the Animal Protective Foundation in Glenville.
