Obituary of Viola Hunt

Viola H. Hunt, 89, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2015 at the Baptist Health Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Sherburne, NY, she was the daughter of the late Scott and Estelle Hazen. Viola was a graduate of Sherburne High School and married her late husband Norman Hunt on August 4, 1954. Viola enjoyed raising her family and due to her husband's death in 1969 she worked two jobs to support them. Viola retired from A.W. Lawrence Group in Albany, NY as an underwriter after many faithful years. She was a long time member of the Dutch Reformed Church in Canajoharie and served as the Treasurer of the church, as well as the first female consistory member in the nation. Viola enjoyed bowling every Thursday night as well as camping. You could also often find her gardening, cooking or canning fruits and vegetables. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Survivors include her son Kevin Hunt of Glenville, NY and her daughter Cheryl Williamson of Radford, VA. She is also survived by her five grandchildren Colin, Ryan and Erin Hunt, and Chad and Reese Williamson. Relatives and friends may call at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd. Glenville on Thursday April 30, 2015 from 4:00pm-7:00pm. Funeral Services will be held on Friday May 1, 2015 at 1:00pm at the funeral home.
