Obituary of Daniel Patrick

Daniel Joseph Patrick, 32, passed away suddenly after a long illness on May 6, 2015. He was born on November 1, 1982 and was the son of Margaret and David VanSchaick. Daniel was known to be a happy, fun loving guy who enjoyed the company of others. He also had a true love for animals, sports, politics and history. Daniel was a 2002 graduate of Galway Central High School and went on to attend Herkimer County Community College, majoring in liberal arts. Daniel continued his education, earning a bachelor's degree in political science from Siena College. Daniel was very active in the Young Republicans Club and was deeply involved in his community and over the past three years, he was a member of the Living Hope Church in Scotia. He also fulfilled his aspiration of giving back and helping others by being a volunteer at the Schenectady City Mission. Daniel was formerly employed at First National Bank of Scotia, but moved on to a job he loved and enjoyed. He proudly worked as a direct support professional at New Visions in Slingerlands, where his clients were the favorite part of his day. Daniel was predeceased by his grandparents, Margaret G. Donohue and John James Patrick. Daniel is survived by his parents David VanSchaick and Margaret VanSchaick, sister Elizabeth VanSchaick and brother Matthew VanSchaick. Grandparents George and Barbara VanSchaick. Many family members survive including his cherished aunts and uncles, Barbara and Kenneth Pelletier, Michelle Scholz, Michael and Patricia Longo, Donna and John Green, Kimberly Eiss, Holly VanSchaick, John and Nancy Donohue, and Richard Clapham. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, May 13, 2015 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road, Glenville. A celebration of Daniel's life will be held Thursday, May 14, 2015, 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
