Obituary of Gennaro Vitagliano

Charlton, NY - Gennaro "Jerry" Vitagliano entered eternal rest on May 22, 2015 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, NY. Born on 8/21/1924 in Rutland, Vermont where he grew up until he entered the US Navy in 1944 where he was stationed in Georgia. Jerry started his career in sales at the Empire Super Market in Albany NY as the produce manager in 1950 and was a successful and well like salesman for Service Liquor Distributors for over 30 years. Jerry enjoyed taking rode trips to Vermont to visit his family, had a passion for music and singing, he spent countless hours working in his driveway on weekends detailing cars for family, friends and neighbors. Predeceased by his mother Anna Garafano and father Salvatore Vitagliano, brothers John and Geno, sisters Mary Canavan and Elaine Garrow leaves behind a sister Philomena Fredette, Three sons Jerome (Carol) Vitagliano of Clifton Park NY, Lawrence (Laurie) Vitagliano of Colorado Springs, CO, Mark (Chris) Vitagliano of Santa Fe, NM and daughter Karen Vitagliano and their mother Veronica. Three beloved grandchildren Christa Vitagliano Fraley, Michele Vitagliano , and Nikolas C. Two great-grand twins Avianna and Dominic Fraley. The family would like to thank all staff at Ellis hospital who were involved in Jerry's care, especially his close friend Imma Iacobucci. Calling hours will be held Tuesday (May 26) 5-7pm at Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd. Funeral services Wednesday 10 am at the funeral home followed by a procession to the Gerald B.H. Solomon Cemetery for 12 noon. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association; 440 New Karner Rd. Albany 12205.
