Obituary of Elizabeth Alexander-Davis

Elizabeth Ann Alexander-Davis (nee: Neary), 88, passed away December 17, 2012at Ellis Medicine's McClellan Campus, following a brief illness. She previously resided at Coburg Village, Rexford, NY. Betty was born on November 23, 1924 in Hawley, Pennsylvania, a beloved daughter of the late John L. and Sadie Rowe Neary. Betty attended Hawley schools and was a 1941 graduate of Hawley High School. She was married to Joseph M. Alexander in 1953 and moved to Glenville, NY in 1962. Mrs. Alexander worked as a secretary at Elias Sayour Company, NYC, Western Electric Co., General Electric Co., Daystorm Instrument Division of Dayton, Inc., all in Scranton, PA area, and the Niskayuna Central School District, Niskayuna, NY, retiring in 1984. Betty was a member of the Rexford Women's Club, the Parkinson's Support Group, and a communicant of the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Glenville. Betty's husband Joseph M. Alexander Sr.passed away on August 6, 2004. Elizabeth later remarried. Her second husband, James E. Davis, died last year. Betty was predeceased also by her brothers, Donald F. Neary and John M. Neary, both of Honesdale, PA. Survivors include three sons, Joseph M. Alexander Jr. and Valerie of Clifton Park, NY, John S. Alexander of Burnt Hills, NY, and Michael J. Alexander and Sandra of Charlton, NY. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren: Rebecca Alexander Wadsworth (Peter Bauer) of Niskayuna, NY, Sarah E. Jackson (Benjamin) of Elmira, NY, Kathleen M. Alexander of Kingston, NY, Michael J. Alexander of Colonie, NY and Steven J. Alexander of Charlton, two great granddaughters, Taylor and Grayce Wadsworth of Niskayuna, NY, and three step grandsons, Ryan McCormick, Douglas Hudson and David Hudson. Any moment her third great-grandchild is expected. The Liturgy of the Word will be said on Friday, December 21st at 9:00 AM at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 400 Saratoga Rd., Glenville, officiated by Rev. R. Thomas Connery. Entombment will be at Most Holy Redeemer Mausoleum. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend and may also call at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd., Glenville on Thursday, December 20, from 6 PM to 8 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Betty's name may be made to Parkinson's Research, 215 Washington Avenue, Albany, NY 12205 or to a charity of one's choice.
