Obituary of Vida Durnford

Vida E. Durnford, 80, of Glenville, passed away June 4th, 2015 at Kingsway Arms Nursing Home with her family by her side. Born in Keene, NH on September 1,1934, she was the only child of the late Vera and Lawrence Aldrich. Vida graduated from Keene High School in 1952. She worked for Peeler Insurance Co. several years. Vida was united in marriage to her beloved husband, Gordon C. Durnford with whom she would share 55 wonderful years. Gordon passed away in 2011. Vida was a housewife and homemaker raising her six children. She was an active member of the 1st Reformed Church of Scotia since moving to Glenville in 1981. She volunteered her time for Bethesda House in Schenectady. Vida and Gordon enjoyed traveling around the country and spending winters in Palms Springs or Texas. Most of all, she dedicated her life to her children and grandchildren, always there to support them in sports, school plays, concerts and dance recitals. She is lovingly survived by her children: Donna (Patrick) Scannepieco of Drexel Hills, PA; Jeffrey (Cheryl) Durnford of Katy, TX; Deborah (William) Miner of Harrisville, NY; Gregory (Joan) Durnford of Ballston Lake; Rebecca (Alex) Ayers and Amy (Matthew) Lyons of Glenville; 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, June 13th at 11 am at the 1st Reformed Church of Scotia, 224 N. Ballston Avenue (Rte 50)t.
