Obituary of Virginia Mashuta

Virginia Catherine Nedvidek Mashuta 91 of Scotia, New York went into eternal rest in the loving arms of Jesus Christ on June 23, 2015. Born on November 25, 1923 in Schenectady, New York she was the daughter of Leopold R. Nedvidek (November 16, 1903) and Josephine Woznack Nedvidek (May 28, 1903). Virginia married Andrew Mashuta, Jr. on July 27, 1946 and was the loving mother of Andrea Lynn Mashuta (December 22, 1949) and Jacalyn Lee Mashuta MacDowell (July 5, 1951). Virginia graduated from Mont Pleasant High School in 1942 when she was first employed as an assembly line worker at the Schenectady General Electric Company during WWII constructing television tubes. While raising her children, she was employed at Ida's Beauty Salon as a manicurist. Virginia finished her working career at Schenectady International, as a general office clerk, when she retired to help care for her aging parents in 1989. In her earlier years, Virginia and her family were communicants at the Holy Name of Jesus Polish National Catholic Church in Schenectady where she became a board member and treasurer. She had many fond memories she would recall upon and reminisce about especially participating in many fundraising activities. Virginia is predeceased by her parents Leo R. Nedvidek on January 31, 1990 and Josephine Woznack Nedvidek on March 28, 1997, her loving husband Andrew Mashuta on May 5, 1998, her daughter Andrea Lynn Mashuta on July 18, 2008, her brother John Joseph Nedvidek on August 31, 2000, her brother-in-law Michael Mashuta in the year 2010 and sister-in-law Antionette Frisone Mashuta in the year 2008. Virginia is survived by her loving daughter and caregiver Jacalyn Lee Mashuta MacDowell and son-in-law Alan W. MacDowell of Burnt Hills, New York, three loving grandsons, Jason Matthew MacDowell and his wife Cindy Lai- MacDowell of Ballston Spa, Ryan Alan MacDowell and his wife Krysta Larsen MacDowell of Glenville and Eric Andrew MacDowell and his husband Eric Wilke of Clifton Park. Virginia is the proud great grandmother of six great grandsons Brayden Isaiah MacDowell, Emmett Ryan MacDowell, Isaac Hunter MacDowell, Gerit Ephraim MacDowell and Josiah Larsen MacDowell of Glenville, and Nicholas Andrew MacDowell of Ballston Spa. Virginia is also survived by her brother's wife Vera Mashuta Nedvidek and several nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and her loving and very protective doggie Katy. All are invited for a celebration of her life held at the Glenville Funeral Home in Glenville New York. Calling hours will be on Friday, June 26, 2015 at 5:00-7:00pm. Memorial service and funeral on Saturday, June 27, 2015at 10:00am. Memorial contributions can be made in Virginia's name to Animal Protective Foundation, 53 Maple Avenue, Scotia, New York 12302. Internment will be at St. Anthony's Cemetery Glenridge Road, Glenville, New York.
