Obituary of Elizabeth Schwarting

Betty Schwarting, 85, of Scotia passed away on June 27, 2015 following a brief illness. Born in Buffalo, NY on September 9, 1929, she was an only child. Betty was predeceased by her mother Dorothy McIntosh, (1942) and her father, Donald McIntosh, (1950). She graduated from LaFayette High School and Bryant and Stratton Business School in Buffalo. Betty was married to William "Bill" Schwarting, Jr. on August 17, 1950 at a ceremony at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Williamsville, NY and moved to Scotia where her husband had accepted a teaching position at Scotia-Glenville Central Schools. Betty is survived byher husband Bill and four children: A daughter, Karen Herrmann (Doug) of Michigan, sons; William "Bill" Schwarting III of Florida, Robert "Bob" Schwarting (Debbie) of Clifton Park and Nelson "Bud" Schwarting (Sue) of Burnt Hills. She leaves her cherished grandchildren: Amy (Bob) Ego, Nathan (Lindsey) Herrmann, Julie Herrmann, Daniel (Meredith) Schwarting, Lindsay (Shea) Miller and Courtney Schwarting. Great Grandchildren: Blake, Will and Becca. Mrs. Schwarting was a member of the Albany Colony, Society of Mayflower descendents in NY, also a member of the Schenectady Chapter, National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution. As owners of an airstream RV, she and her husband were members of"The Wally Byram Caravan Club International" for over 22 years. A memorial service of remembrance will be celebrated at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 547 Saratoga Rd. Glenville on July 6, at 11 AM. Pastor Deron Milleville will officiate. Interment will be private at Park Cemetery in Scotia NY under the direction of Michael DeMarco of the Glenville Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Betty's name to Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd (12302) or to City Mission of Schenectady, 425 Hamilton St. Schenectady, NY 12305.
