Obituary of Jacob Spiak

Jacob Andrew Spiak, 20, of Glenville passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 1, 2015. Born in Niskayuna on Marh 11, 1995, he was the beloved son of John and Kimberly Barczak Spiak. Jacob attended Pashley Elementary, O'Rourke Middle and Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake High School, graduating in 2014. Gifted in chemistry, he built his own pyrotechnic devices and chemical blend of fireworks display. He was able to take regular household items to suit his need for a certain pyrotechnic effect. Jacob was an avid vegetable gardener grew his own organic food from seed. Many of his crop was canned using methods taught by his grandparents. Aside from growing his own food, Jacob was a gourmet cook and excellant baker as well. He enjoyed "Pawn Stars", "Rambo" action and mystery movies. He frequented the Discovery channel and the Arts and Entertainment Network. Jacob loved to experiment and was an all around technology buff. He was kind and considerate to others and would give the shirt off his back. Survivers include his parents: John and Kim Spiak and his stepfather, Kenneth P. Hodge; a brother, Matthew J. Spiak and best friend and the love of his life, Jean Szymanski. His paternal grandparents, Julia and Andrzej Wasienko and maternal great grandparents, Anna and FrankBarczak; his great uncle, Stefan Spiak and aunts, Anna (Kenneth) Hoover and Maria (Matthew) Bartolini. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday (July 7) at 9:45 am from the Glenville Funeral home, 9 Glenridge Rd. Glenville followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am at St. Nicholas Ukranian Catholic Church 2410 4th Avenue Watervliet. Relatives and friends are invited to attend may also call at the Glenville Funeral Home Monday from 5-8 pm. Interment will follow the mass at St. Nicholas Ukranian Cemetery.
