Philip Miller Jones died Friday, July 3rd from complications of Alzheimers and leukemia, just shy of his 81st birthday. Philip was born July 10th, 1934 in Akron, Ohio to Max M. and Thelma Jones. He was older brother to his sister, Sally (Gayer). Philip graduated from East High School, in Akron, in 1952. In 1953 he married Jobyna (McLain). He went to work for the Goodyear tire company in the apprentice program before moving on to Babcock and Wilcox, and eventually, General Electric in 1960. He was assigned to the atomic energy inspection services and, despite multiple moves in the early years of his career, continued his education, ultimately graduating from the University of Akron in 1968 at the age of 34. In 1968, Philip moved to Burnt Hills and served as a town councilman for Glenville from 1970 to 1972. He was instrumental in bringing CDTA bus service to the Burnt Hills area. In 1975, he married Roseann (Tebbano), and settled in Schenectady. Phil and Roseann enjoyed traveling, particularly to Maine, and large family gatherings. They hosted an annual Christmas Party at their home for upwards of 40 people every year for over 30 years. Philip had a lifelong love of reading, politics and political history. He had an extensive library of presidential biographies and a collection of political campaign buttons that dated back to the 1800s. Upon his retirement, Philip became a volunteer at Proctors from 1992 through 2012. He ultimately became a head usher and was particularly found of serving as captain of the ushers for school trips and graduation ceremonies. He was honored as usher of the year in 1999 and volunteer of the year in 2000. Philip is survived by his wife, Roseann; his children, Jeffrey Jones (Dorine), Suzanne Guy (Michael), Gary Michael Jones (who shares his father's birthday}, Jill Cadieux (Gregg), Davia Battista (Paul), Jeff Patrie (Janice) and Chris Patrie (Joanne).
