Obituary of Ernest Haffner

Ernest F. Haffner, 86, of Rexford, passed away peacefully at his home July 29, 2015 with his loving family by his side. Ernie grew up in Brooklyn, NY and attended high school in Springfield Center, NY, graduating from Springfield Center High School in Otsego County. He served as corporal in the Army, stationed in Trieste, Italy during the Korean War. He expanded his knowledge & interest in the art of photography while in the army. Photography was a lifelong hobby. Following the War he graduated from Mohawk Valley Technical Institute and went to work for General Electric. A few years later he joined the newly formed M.T.I. out of Latham where he worked for over thirty years. Ernie and his wife, the former Patricia Revell were married 45 years. For all of their married life they lived in the Vischer Ferry Community of Rexford. Ernie was very active in his community and generously donated his time and talents. He was most proud of his children's accomplishments. Ernie has left a legacy that will live on throughout their lives and forward. Survivors include his beloved wife Patricia Haffner, a son, Rodney Haffner of Scotia and two daughters, Melissa Yager (Kyle) of Ballston Lake and Melanie Stackewicz (Craig) of Clifton Park. He leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Andrew, Patricia and Savannah. It was his wish that no formal funeral services be held. In recognition, a celebration of Life gathering will be privately held. The family has requested contributions be made in memory of Ernest F. Haffner to Cure Pancreatic Cancer - lustgarten.org.
