Obituary of Michael Budka

Michael E. Budka, 68, passed away peacefully at his home in Glenville with his family by his side. Mike was born in Schenectady, the beloved son of the late Benjamin and Helen Krawiecki Budka. He was a '66 graduate of Linton High School. Mike enlisted with the Army then serving his country in Vietnam where he worked on the Tandem Rotor Multi-Engine Helicopter (Chinook). He received several merit badges including expert marksman with the M-14 and M-16 rifle. He was united in marriage on September 29, 1974 to the former Dale Hunt. Together they began B&H Automotive in Scotia-Glenville. Mike was always fascinated with cars since childhood and held the passion of racing throughout his life. He was a two-term president of NYSSCA. He sponsored many stock cars to area racetracks with well known drivers including C.D. Coville, Jack Johnson, among them. Mike was honored with his induction to the racing hall of fame for his longtime support of the sport. Survivors include his wife, Dale Budka; his children: Michael Budka Jr.(Cynthia), Joseph Budka and Amanda Boeshko (Brian). Four cherished grandchildren; Michael Budka III and Matthew Budka; Cade Michael and Arya Reed Boeshko. He leaves behind his brothers, Alexander Budka (Suzi) and Leonard Budka (Karen) and a sister, Diane DeMeo (Ron). Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Funeral services will be held Tuesday 10 am (Aug. 11) at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 400 Saratoga Rd. Glenville (Rte 50). Calling hours will be at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd. Glenville Monday (Aug 10) from 6pm-8pm. Graveside committal with military honors will take place following church services at Park Cemetery in Scotia. Contributions may be sent to the Wounded Warrior Project in memory of Michael Edward Budka.
