The Johnson's raised their family in Scotia where Dan enjoyed the benefits of watching his sons grow up playing sports, especially baseball where he coached and managed in the Scotia-Glenville Leagues. Dan enjoyed outdoor activities which included hunting, fishing, boating and camping in earlier years. He was known for his skill at carpentry and "Mr. Fix-it" capabilities.
