Obituary of Joyce Gebhardt

Joyce Shaffer Gebhardt, 96, of Route 146, died October 9, 2015, following a brief illness. Born in Easton, PA where she grew up, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Bessie Shaffer. Joyce was united in marriage in 1940 to John V. Gebhardt, and soon after, moved to the Capital District. They were married 50 years, before he passed away in 1991. Joyce was an avid downhill skier until her late 80's, a member of the Glen Hills Swim Club, the 70+ Ski Club, where she served as secretary for many years, and several weekly bridge clubs. Survivors include her daughter, Joan, of Kensington MD; three nephews; and two nieces. Visiting hours for the public will be held Monday, October 12, 2015 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd., Glenville.
