Obituary of Helen Pearch

Helen B. Pearch, 93, formerly of Charlton, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2012 at Ellis Medicine, surrounded by her family. Helen was born in Utica on December 28, 1918, the daughter of the late Frederick and Magdaline Schueler Buttenshon. She was a graduate of the Utica Free Academy. Following graduation, Helen was employed as a secretary for Utica Radiator, and subsequently for the NY Telephone Co. While her husband was in the army, working for Bell Aircraft in Marietta, GA, they were able to travel until Bob was shipped overseas. After most of her family was grown, Helen worked for Mohawk National Bank, first as a telephone operator and then as a safe deposit clerk, retiring in June, 1983. Helen and Robert enjoyed many cross country trips in their van. Helen was predeceased by her husband on March 15, 2001 and later by her daughter, Doris Whissen. She is survived by her two sons: Robert F. Pearch, Avondale, AZ and Richard T. (Lori) Pearch, Nottingham, MD; two daughters, Janice E. Pearch, Charlton, NY and Barbara A. Anderson, Spokane, WA. Her loving sister Doris Hennings, New Hartford, NY, as well as seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren also survive. She was a loving and beloved wife and mother, a wonderful cook and homemaker and had a strong faith in God. She was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd since 1956. The family gives special thanks for the care she received on S-2 at Baptist Health Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. A funeral service will be held 11 AM Thursday, September 20, 2012 at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 547 Saratoga Rd. Glenville with Rev. Deron Milleville officiating. A reception will be held in the fellowship hall immediately following the funeral service. A committal service at the columbarium wall will be conducted at 2:00 PM at the Gerald B.H. Solomon National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Helen's name to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 547 Saratoga Rd. Glenville, NY 12302.
