Obituary of Norma Huntington

Norma C. Huntington of Howes Cave, died peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at her home. She was 76. Born in Middleburgh on March 27, 1936, the daughter of Asbury and Edna (Slack) Coons and graduated from Middleburgh High School. She had four children from her first marriage and married Gurdon Huntington, Jr. in 1966 and they raised the children and their new son on a farm in Sloansville. They ran an apartment business in Central Bridge before retiring to Tucson AZ in 1992. Norma returned to Central Bridge to be near family and friends. She was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church in Central Bridge. Survivors include brother, Franklin Coons of Middleburgh; sons, Wallace (Virginia) Engle of Glendale, AZ, Kevin (Linda) Engle of Salisbury, NC and Eric (Susan) Huntington of Albany; daughter, Patricia (Edward) Baker of Howes Cave; ten grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. Predeceased were her husband of 37 years, Gurdon Huntington, Jr.; brothers, Lawrence and James Coons; sister, Paulie Shilstone; and daughter, Carol Engle. A memorial service is planned at the Bethany Lutheran Church at 11 am on January 12, 2013. Arrangements and cremation have been entrusted to the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd, Glenville, NY.
