Obituary of Cathy Jean Georgelas

Dateline: Glenville Cathy Jean Georgelas (Ulrich), 55, passed away at her home with her beloved family by her side on Tuesday, December 8, 2015. Cathy is the cherished wife of Arthur Georgelas and devoted mother to Ciara D'Angelo (Paul), Nicole Georgelas (Osman), and Nicholas Georgelas. Recently, Cathy became a loving grandmother to Vincenzo D'Angelo. She leaves behind five beloved sisters: Mary Edwardsen (late Roy), Cynthia Young (William), Elizabeth Wegrowski (John), Lynn Ulrich (Jack Clune) and Ronnie Toohey (Michael), her mother-in-law, Helena Georgelas, sister-in-law, Melissa Verrigni, best friend and caregiver, Trish VanDerhoof, and many nieces, nephews, friends, and her puppy Diesel. Born in Niskayuna on February 26, 1960, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Mayfair Ulrich. She attended Broadalbin High School and moved to Scotia where she graduated and met her husband of 31 years, Arthur Georgelas. Cathy worked at Union College for the past 18 years. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, being at the lake, going camping, holiday parties, garage sales, ice fishing, snowmobiling, and anything that involved a good time. Cathy lived life to the fullest with the most contagious smile on her face. Funeral Services for Cathy will be held Saturday, December 12, at 11 AM from St. George's Greek Orthodox Church. Relatives and friends are cordially invited and may also call on Friday 4 - 7 PM. There will be a Trisagion Service at 6:45 PM Friday at the GLENVILLE FUNERAL HOME, 9 Glenridge Rd. Scotia-Glenville. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. George's Greek Orthodox Church.
