Obituary of Sharon Gladys Kristel

Sharon G. Kristel (MacFee), 63, of West Glenville, passed away on December 11, 2015. Born in Schenectady, Sharon was raised in West Glenville, the loving daughter of Theron and Gladys (Downs) MacFee. Sharon was a 1970 graduate of Scotia-Glenville High School. Sharon was married at the 1st Reformed Church of Glenville to Bruce Kristel on February 13, 1971. She worked for 20 plus years as a secretary for the Scotia-Glenville School District, retiring in 2011. She was a parishioner of the 1st Reformed Church of W. Glenville. Her lifelong hobby was the collecting and admiring of antiques. As well as filling her home with antiques, Sharon enjoyed embroidery, reading, and travelling. Above all else, Sharon's passion in life were her three grandchildren. Sharon spent a significant amount of time later in life helping her son and daughter-in-law at their restaurant, Kristel's Lodge. Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Bruce Kristel; her parents, Theron and Gladys MacFee; her children, Jennifer (Todd) Cenzano and Jeremy (Maura) Kristel; her grandchildren, Cassandra Cenzano, Keeley and Kellan Kristel, all of West Glenville. Sharon is also survived by her brothers-in-laws Brian (Joanne) Kristel and Brent (Lisa) Kristel; as well as several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. Relatives and friends and may call on Monday, December 14, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road, East Glenville. Funeral services, Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the First Reformed Church of W. Glenville (2172 West Glenville Road), with the Rev. William Faulkner, presiding. Burial, West Glenville Cemetery (behind the church). Memorial contributions may be made in Sharon's name to pulmonaryfibrosis.org or to the West Glenville Reformed Church.
