Obituary of Donald L. Spring

Donald L. Spring, 88, of Glenville, NY passed away December 29, 2015 at the Ellis Residential Center. Born March 5, 1927 in Plattsburgh, NY, he was the son of the late Albert and Myrtle Spring. Don was predeceased by his loving wife Marie Spring in 2010, his sisters Evelyn and Vivian, and his brothers Roland, Fay, Howard and Barry. Don graduated from Mont Pleasant High School in Schenectady. He served in the Army in Europe during World War II. He attended Union College, and thereafter graduated from Marquette University in Wisconsin with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He spent most of his career as an engineer and manager at the Watervliet Arsenal. Survivors include his daughters; Donna Florkiewicz (Rick) of Glenville, NY and their children Bryan, Daniel and Sarah, and Kerry Spring Rackey (Scott) of Bedford, MA and their children Samuel, Cameron and George. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. After retiring, Don and Marie enjoyed traveling around the world, and were avid Union College Ice Hockey fans. The family thanks the staff of the Stockade Unit at the Ellis Residential Center and Kenrick of Interim HealthCare for their compassionate care of Don. Calling hours will be from 3:004:00 pm, on Saturday, January 2nd, 2016 at Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road, Glenville, NY 12302, followed by a memorial service at 4:00 pm.
