Obituary of Harold (Hap) W. Presson

Harold W. (Hap) Presson died on January 8th. He was born November 21, 1931 in Worcester, Mass., the son of Harold W. Presson, Sr. and Olive Munson Presson. He graduated from Worcester Academy in 1949 and Dartmouth College in 1953. From 1953 to 1956 he served on active duty as a gunnery officer aboard destroyers in the Atlantic and Pacific fleets. Following service in the Navy, in 1957 he joined the General Electric Company. He remained with GE during a long career in employee and labor relations, except for a three year leave of absence when he served as press secretary to Mayor William F. Walsh in Syracuse, NY. Presson married Elizabeth A. (Beth) Jones in 1958 who survives him. Together they raised three children: Todd E. Presson (Lisa) of Panton, VT; David L. Presson (Lorraine) of Rotterdam, NY; and Sarah E. Presson (Stephanie) of Sunderland, MA. They have three grandchildren — Joshua, Molly and Oliver. Presson was predeceased by his stepbrother Ivor (“Bud”) Hanson and is survived by his stepsister Jean Hanson of Colorado. He enjoyed hunting, boating, golf, reading, and spending time with his family. Funeral arrangements are provided by the Glenville Funeral Home. Calling hours will be held Saturday January 16 from 11 am to 1 pm with services to follow.
