Obituary of Patricia Marr

Patricia (Pat) Marr, 88, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 10th, at the Glendale Home. Born in Schenectady, she was the daughter of the late Stanislow and Teresa Kiszkiel (Sznok). Patricia graduated from Mont Pleasant High School in 1945. In September 1948, she married her beloved husband Leonard (Len) C. Marr. She worked as the Executive Secretary at General Electric Corporation for 5 years before focusing on her life’s passions of being a devoted mother and community volunteer. For years, Pat served on the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) at Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake School District, and held position on the district’s election board. She dedicated her time as an alter guild member at Our Lady of Grace, where she later became the head of catechism. Pat had received the notable recognition “Citizen of the Year” in her community. For many years, Pat played bridge with a group of friends. In addition to all her achievements, she was also an incredibly talented seamstress. Being a part of the New York State Federation of Home Bureaus, she often used her talent to crochet quilts for the needy. Throughout her professional and personal life, Patricia possessed exceptional leadership skills. An avid traveler, Pat vacationed with her family in Cape Cod for many years, where she enjoyed camping, swimming in the waves and eating onion rings. She and Len also made several trips to Europe, where her daughter Pam lived for some time. They also spent many wonderful vacations visiting casinos in Vegas, Atlantic City and across the US with Len's brother, Don, and his wife Pat. Pat was predeceased by her husband Len in 2006. Survivors include their daughter, Pamela Mackenzie (Peter) of Ottawa, Ontario; Peter Marr (Traci) of Charlton and Lori Nerenberg (Curt) of Willmette, Illinois; cherished grandchildren, Michael Marr, Kelly Winchester (Jesse), and Eric Nerenberg. Also surviving is her sister Terry Hickey (Fred) of Schenectady, NY and brother-in-law Don Marr (Pat) of Latham. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 29th, 11 AM at Our Lady of Grace Church, 53 Midline Road (Route 146A) in Ballston Lake.
