Albert Polsinelle

Obituary of Albert L. Polsinelle

Albert L. Polsinelle, 94, passed away peacefully at his home with his loving family by his side on January 13, 2016. Albert married his beloved wife of 66 years, Alma Uttberg, in 1949 at the First United Methodist Church of Schenectady, where they became long time members. Born on June 7, 1921 in Scotia, NY he was the son of the late Joseph and Philomena Polsinelle. Albert was a lifelong area resident and graduated in 1940 from Scotia High School. Following high school, Al entered into the United States Army. He was a World War II hero. His bravery earned him the Silver Star Award for Gallantry in Action, as well as two Purple Hearts. After being honorably discharged from the Army, Al’s career path included several jobs, but his most recent and prominent position was being the Building Inspector for the Town of Glenville for 30 years, retiring in 2001. During his tenure, Al was chosen by the Building Inspectors Code Council to help rewrite the building and fire codes at the World Trade Center, in NYC, where he attended code council meetings to achieve this goal. In addition to being Building Inspector, Al also held the position of Registrar of Vital Statistics for the Town of Glenville. In his younger years, Al enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially with his brother-in-law Paul Lange in Forked Lake, NY. Al always enjoyed carpentry, having built many homes in the area. He also got great pleasure from gardening and was a huge fan of NASCAR. Al was very community driven; he was a Founding Father and member of the Beukendaal Fire Department, as well as a longtime member of both the Glenville Rotary and the Beukendaal Masonic Lodge 915, where he held the honor of being Past Master. He was also the former President of the Eastern States Building Inspectors and former President of The New York State Building Officials Conference. Above all, however, Albert loved nothing more than spending time with his family. Albert is survived by his loving wife Alma Polsinelle, son Larry (Janice) Polsinelle and daughter Lynn Harkness. He is also survived by his grandchildren Bradley and Brian (Amanda Walczak) Harkness and Katie (Aaron) Daniels, and great-grandchildren Landen Harkness, Lilliana and Logan Daniels. Brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, and many nieces and nephews also survive. Al was predeceased by his brothers and sisters, James Polsinelli; John Polsinelli; Rose Peck; Louise Villanova; Angie Loudis and Ester Marotta. He was also predeceased by his son-in-law Scott Harkness. Calling hours will be held on Monday January 18, 2016 from 5p.m. to 8p.m. at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd. Glenville.
