Obituary of Dexter A. Dahlgren Sr.

Dexter A. Dahlgren Sr., 89 of Glenville passed away peacefully May 12, 2016 following a brief illness. He was born on July 9, 1926 in Quincy, MA and raised in Stockholm ME. Dexter attended Caribou High School and received his bachelors degree from Ricker College in Houlton, ME where he met his future wife Beatrice "Joyce" Ritchie. Following their marriage the couple moved to Schenectady where Dexter took a job with G.E.'s MAQUA Co. Following their closure he used his degree to become an auditor with Audit and Control for SUNY Colleges. He retired from there in 1997. Dexter enjoyed the outdoors and often hiked through the woods. An avid snowshoe trailblazer cross-country style, Dexter had interests in reading and crossword puzzles. The Dalgren family wished to thank Ellis Hospital (4-C) and Community Hospice for their compassion in caring for Dexter. He was predeceased by his wife Joyce Dahlgren in 2000. Survivors include his son, Dexter Dahlgren Jr. of Glenville and daughter, Deborah Capobianco and her husband Peter of Schenectady. He leaves behind a legacy of grandchildren: Leah (Fabion) Johnston, Peter Capobianco Jr. and great grandchildren Aiden and Reagan. There will be no calling hours.
