Obituary of Daniel J. Heddesheimer

Daniel J. Heddesheimer, 76, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on May 15, 2016. Born in North Hillsdale, NY, he was the son of the late Henry Heddesheimer, Sr. and Anna Dugan Heddesheimer. Daniel was a 1957 graduate of Roeliff Jansen Central School in Hillsdale, NY. He then went on to graduate from Lafayette College in Easton, PA with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics. Daniel proudly served two years in the United States Army and was stationed in Syracuse, NY as an Induction Officer. Then, on May 12, 1962, he married his loving wife Sandra Crandall Heddesheimer. Daniel worked for General Electric for 34 years. Throughout his time with the company, he worked in the Syracuse, Chicago, IL, Burlington, VT, Wilmington, NC, Hudson Falls and Schenectady branches. Daniel was a very quiet, hardworking man who deeply enjoyed spending time with his family, travelling, playing bridge, model trains and volunteering for various organizations. Survivors, in addition to wife Sandra of 54 years, include his children Elizabeth Pike (Steven) of Littleton, CO, Susan Cifaratta (Michael) of Ballston Spa, NY, and Paul Heddesheimer of Gorham, ME. He is also survived by his grandchildren Kristen and Matthew Pike, Zachary, Erika and Jarod Heddesheimer, and step-grandchildren Kathryn and John Cifaratta. Daniel was predeceased by his brother Henry Heddesheimer, Jr. and Henry’s wife Anna. Funeral services will be held privately for Daniel’s family. Burial will be at North Hillsdale Rural Cemetery in North Hillsdale, NY.
