Obituary of Ferdinand J. Worsa

Ferdinand J. “Fred” Worsa, 84, of Glenville, passed away peacefully at his home on May 18, 2016, surrounded by family. He was born in Oil City, PA, the town in which he grew up, the beloved son of the late Carl and Pauline Worsa. Fred received his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Tri-State University. He married Judith Lenar on May 18, 1957. Early on he worked for Westinghouse but the majority of his career was with G.E., at the Schenectady Campus, retiring in 1997. It was just about this time Fred began caring for Judith, who was battling Alzheimer’s. Throughout his life Fred shared many interests with Judy, including camping trips, gardening, photography, bowling in mixed leagues, and family gatherings. Fred had an interest in WWII Aircrafts, was treasurer of the TNT bowling league and a member of the G.E. Quarter Century Club. Fred enjoyed nature and animals, especially cats and dogs. He was a longtime member of the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Glenville. Fred was predeceased by his daughter, Leslie Worsa. Survivors include his sons, Gregory J. (Kristi), Michael and Jeffrey Worsa; daughters, Deborah L. Schlegel, Sue Ann Conrad and Karen (Thomas) Ladd; grandchildren: April Kellerman, Jarome Wheeler, Christopher and Brandon Schlegel, Zachary and Alisha Conrad, Kalie, Ryan, Rachael, Evan and Dylan Ladd; great grandchildren, Austin and Autumn Kellerman and Joshua Wheeler. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive Fred. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday (May 24th) at 9 am from the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 400 Saratoga Rd. Glenville with Rev. Jerome Gingras officiating. Relatives and friends are cordially invited and may also call Monday from 6-8 pm at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd. Scotia-Glenville.
