Obituary of Russell H. Carlson

Russell H. Carlson, 83, of Scotia, passed away June 7, 2016, peacefully at home, after a long illness. He was born June 14, 1932 in Chicago, IL. He is pre-deceased by his parents, Henry and Eunice Carlson and his first wife Paulette Goodwin Carlson, who died in 1978. He attended college at Iowa Wesleyan. He served the army as a medic in Ft. Louis, WA. In 1955, he started his career at General Electric in Evendale, OH., where he held various positions over the years; his last position was as a Finance Manager at KAPL. Russell was a long time member and former board member of the Edison Club, where he was an avid golfer. He spent 23 years wintering in Lakeland, FL, and was a longtime member of First Reformed Church of Scotia. He is survived by his wife Doris Kehoe Carlson, sister Nancy Gennari of Pelham, AL, three children; Brent Carlson and his wife Diana, of Anchorage, AK, Cathy Caito and her husband Paul of Cincinnati, OH, Linda McBride and her husband Bill of Cincinnati, OH, four stepchildren; Bob Kehoe and his wife Deb of Seattle, WA, Brian Kehoe and his wife Michelle of Shrewsbury, MA, Katie Hunt and her husband Paul of Scotia, NY, Claire Faranda and her husband Jim of Glenville, NY seven grandchildren; Lindsay Dunlap, Chelsea, Mitch and Jake Caito, Keegan and Paulette Carlson, Megan, Leanne and Erin Kehoe, Brittany and Karl Hunt, Hayley and Luke Faranda. Four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, June 11, 2016 at 11 am at First Reformed Church of Scotia, 224 N. Ballston Avenue, (Scotia) with Rev. William Faulkner officiating. Relatives and friends may call on the family prior to the service from 10-11 am. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Russell Carlson’s name to First Reformed Church of Scotia or American Cancer Society, One Penny Lane, Latham NY 12110.
