Obituary of James C. Butler

James C. Butler, 91, passed away at his home July 2, 2016 with his family at his side. Born in Waterford, NY on July 1, 1925, he was the son of the late Charles and Lillian Connolly Butler. James graduated from Waterford H.S. and entered the Marine Corp at 17 years of age. He was proud of his service to his country from '43-'45 as a rifle marksman and Radar Radio Gunner. Jim married the former Helen Derby on May 10, 1951. He was employed at G.E. as a machinist for 38 years. Jim, an accomplished model airplane enthusiast, was seen quite often at Maalwyck Park flying his electric powered planes. He was a member of the Electric Powered Aero modelers club of Glenville. He was predeceased by his brother, William Butler and sister, Carmen Hapgood. Surviving is his beloved wife of 65 years, Helen Butler; his sons, James Butler of Salem, NJ, Michael (Elizabeth) Butler of Charlton and David (Ginger) Butler of Pennellville, NY; grandchildren, Brian (Carol) Butler, Christian Butler, Stacey (Seth) North, Katelyn Heckeler, Lynn (Joe) Beckley and Greg (Jennifer) Brown; seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services, Thursday (July 7) 1 p.m. at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd., Glenville. A calling hour will precede the service from 12 to 1. Entombment will follow full military honors at 2:30 p.m. at the Solomon National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY.
