Obituary of Walter C. Brandt Jr.

Walter C. Brandt Jr., 87, passed away at Schuyler Ridge on July 18, 2016. Born in Schenectady, he moved to Gleason Road in 1939. Following his graduation in 1947 from Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake High School, he went on to graduate from Cortland in 1951 and then again from SUNY-Albany with a Master’s Degree, in 1952. Walter married Phyllis Laws in 1951. He worked proudly as a Physical Education teacher in the Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake School District, which he retired from in 1987, after many years. Walter also faithfully served his community for over 50 years as a fireman with the Burnt Hills Fire District. Walter was predeceased by his mother, Helen; father, Walter; daughter, Lynn Mehollin; and sister, Shirley Howard. Survivors include his loving wife, Phyllis Brandt, their children Ted Brandt (Mary), Susan Frankowski, and JoAnn Zelker. Walter is also survived by his nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. Calling hours for Walter will be held at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road in Glenville, on Friday July 22nd from 4pm to 7pm. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 23rd at 10:30am at the Calvary Episcopal Church, 85 Lake Hill Rd., Burnt Hills, NY 12027. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Calvary Episcopal Church, 85 Lake Hill Rd., Burnt Hills, NY 12027.
