Obituary of Mary-Ann Waters

Mary-Ann Waters, 79, of Alplaus, died peacefully August 22, 2016 at Capital Care Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Born in Schenectady, She was the daughter of the late John and Amelia (Amy) Shimkus. Mary-Ann was a 1955 graduate of Nott Terrace High School's Class of 1955. She married Joseph Patrick Waters on June 11, 1960. The family then moved to Alplaus in 1962. Mary-Ann was a member of the Alplaus Fire Department's Ladies Auxiliary. She was predeceased by her sister Sandra Carocari. Survivors include her husband of 56 years Joseph P. Waters, her children, Thomas (Kathleen) Waters of Burnt Hills, William (Kristin) Waters of Scotia, and Barbara A. Waters of Alplaus; cherished grandmother of Samantha, Molly, Kelly and Rhiannon Waters; her brother, David Shimkus (Carol) of Englewood, FL. Surviving also are her several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at 9 am at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 400 Saratoga Rd. Glenville. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. There will be no prior calling hours. Interment will follow at St. Anthony's Cemetery, Glenridge Rd. Glenville.
