Obituary of Larene H. Gifford

Larene H. Gifford, 85, of Glenville, passed away suddenly at her home September 6, 2016. Born in Schenectady, NY, she was a lifelong resident. Larene graduated Mont Pleasant High School's class of '44. She worked at G.E. for several years and met her husband, George Gifford. They married in Schenectady on November 15, 1959. The couple soon moved to Glenville and were members of East Glenville Community Church for many years. Larene loved going to Maine and Cape Cod with her family as they grew up. She was an avid golfer and skier throughout her life. George and she would travel several weeks every year to the sunny beaches of Florida, especially her favorite, Siesta Key. Most of all, she would enjoy being surrounded by her children and grandchildren. George passed away on May 12, 2010. She was also predeceased by her sister, Ida Foley. Survivors include her loving sons and daughters-in-law, George and Alicia Gifford of Voorheesville and Craig and Nellie Gifford of N. Adams, MA; her grandchildren, Marissa and Tyler Gifford, Craig Gifford Jr. and Tonia (Joseph) Zinni; precious great-granddaughter, Paisley Zinni. Larene leaves behind her siblings, Harold (Sandy) Ariel of Burnt Hills, Cheryl (Tom) Mauceri of Schenectady and brother-in-law Richard Foley of Rotterdam. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held Saturday (September 10) 11 a.m. in Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd., East Glenville. Relatives and friends are cordially invited and may call Friday at the funeral home from 4 to 7 p.m. Interment will be at Memory Gardens, Colonie.
