Obituary of Stella Constance Walkuski (Olkoski)

Stella passed away peacefully at the age of 91 after a short illness. She is survived by her husband Joseph of 70 years, daughters Mary Ann Hagan, Connie Smith (Robert), and Joan Hayes; her sons Joseph (Cameron) and Matthew; 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She is pre-deceased by her son-in-law, Scott W. Hayes, and her grandson, Scott M. Hayes; 10 brothers and sisters and her parents Constance (Kurowski) and Felix Olkoski. First and foremost Stella was a devoted wife and mother. Family gatherings were always a favorite no matter the time of year. She was an avid seamstress and loved to make matching outfits for the girls, taking ceramics classes, and traveling. Perhaps most importantly, she and Joseph loved to Polka! Recently she was most happy when her grandchildren and great-grandchildren visited from near and far. Born in Crucible, PA, Stella and her family eventually moved to Stamford, Connecticut, where Stella worked for many years at Bloomingdales. The family were members of Holy Name of Jesus Parish and Stella was a member of the PTA. In 1973 the family relocated to Scotia, NY where Stella worked for Carl & Co. in Clifton Park and the NY State Tax Department. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road, Glenville, on Friday from 6 PM to 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 10 AM at The Church of the Immaculate Conception, 400 Saratoga Road, Glenville. Interment will take place on Monday at 11 AM at St. John's Cemetery in Darien, CT. All are welcome to join the Walkuski family at these locations to honor Stella.
