Obituary of Lorraine M. Jankowy
Lorraine M. Jankowy, 81, after a long illness, passed away at her home on Wednesday, September 14, 2016. Lorraine was born in Bennington, VT, the daughter of the late Howard and Rose (Foucher) Tripp. She graduated in 1953 from Bennington High School. Lorraine worked for the Carl Co. in Schenectady, and subsequently the De Cesare Agency in Burnt Hills, from which she retired. She was an avid volunteer after retirement, including Thomas Corners Lades Auxillary, usher at Proctors Theatre,
the Birthright Chapter of Schenectady, and for 36 years was a parishioner of the Church of the Immaculate Conception where she was a greeter and a member of the bereavement committee. Lorraine was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and a highlight for her was their 2004 World Series win and her opportunity to dance with Carlton Fisk at a fundraiser in Bennigton, VT. Lorraine was dedicated to her six grandchildren, driving up and down the east coast to cheer them on at their sporting events. She will be sadly missed by her husband John; her daughters: Charlotte (Matthew) Melsert and Kymberly (James) Raimo; her six grandchildren: Cory (Sarah), Ryan, Katie, Macy, Jackson and Elliott; as well as one great grandchild Maxwell Melsert; her brothers : Butch and Jerry and sister Cheryl. Lorraine was predeceased by her sister Pauline. Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd, Glenville from 6 to 8 pm on Friday September 16. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 am on Saturday September 17 at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 400 Saratoga Rd. Glenville. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens
