Obituary of Edward Swasey

Edward J. Swasey, 68, of Schenectady, NY passed away September 18, 2016 with his loving family by his side. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife Mary, loving father to Ted and Elise, Erin, and Lindsay and Michael Murphy, and adored Grandpa to Henry, Amelia, Clara and Michael. Born in Albany, Ed was the son of Joseph and Suzanne Swasey. He graduated from Bethlehem Central High School in 1966. In 1970, he received his bachelor’s degree in economics from Siena College, later receiving his MBA from Sage College. Edward married his beloved wife Mary L. Hofer on February 4th, 1977. Ed built his career at the Golub Corporation. He retired after 35 years as a Director in Information Technology. Upon retiring, he went on to become a teacher at Schenectady County Community College. Ed's greatest joys in life were the times he spent with his family. He was a lifelong sports enthusiast with a dedication to the New York Giants and Yankees. He loved his relatives and many friends who along with his family will miss him dearly. He is survived by his wife Mary and children Ted, Erin and Lindsay, his mother Suzanne M. Swasey, and siblings Thomas and Judy, Robert and Patty, Paul and Therese, and sister Cindy. A Celebration of Ed’s life will be held 11AM Thursday, September 22nd, at the Glenville Funeral Home with Deacon Rit DiCaprio officiating. Interment at Albany Rural Cemetery.
