Obituary of Ruth Teetsel

Ruth A. Teetsel (Smith), 83, passed away peacefully January 22, 2013 at her home with her loving family at her side. Born in Delanson on July 13, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Orson and Florence Southwick Smith. Ruth was married to Milford W. Teetsel in 1947. Ruth worked for Schenectady County Community College, retiring in 1988. She was an avid reader and enjoyed doll collecting. Ruth was predeceased by her husband Milford on 5/11/90; her siblings: John, Gideon, Orson and Charles Smith, Judith Rockenstyre and Ann McCauley; grandsons: James H. Oliver Jr. (1993) and Jason Paul Teetsel (1979). Survivors include loving children: Milford "Butch" Teetsel (Karen) of Niskayuna, Bradley S. (Linda) Teetsel of Schenectady, Kevin (Kim) Teetsel of Guilderland; Bonnie Oliver-Sullivan (Robert) of Colonie, Cheryl (Mike) Costello of Yorktown, VA and Dawn (Ed) Teetsel of Guilderland; her siblings Frances and Galen Wydronkowski, Marlene Merritt, Karen Bulman, Denise Wydronkowski and Cindy Chicharetta; as well as eleven remaining grandchildren: Robert Sullivan, Laureen Sullivan, Bradley S. Teetsel (Samantha), Michael Teetsel, Jamie (Matt) Teetsel, Melissa (Jim) Fitzgerald, Nicole Peek, Zack Peek, Adam Andres, Benjamin and Matthew Costello. Ruth leaves behind her special sister-in-law Beverly Smith and a legacy of 14 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services Friday, January 25 at 11 AM at Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd. Glenville with Rev. Erwin Splittgerber officiating. Calling hours will be held Thursday evening from 6-8PM at the Glenville Funeral Home of Scotia-Glenville. Interment will be at Schenectady Memorial Park.
