Obituary of Dorothy E. Barnao

Dorothy “Dot” Elizabeth Barnao, 74, passed away peacefully, after a long illness on September 20, 2016. She was surrounded by her family at home. Born in Rhinebeck, New York, she was the daughter of the late Barton and Elizabeth Orlich. Dorothy graduated from Red Hook Central High School in 1959 and went on to graduate nursing school at Albany Medical Center in 1962. She worked as a Registered Nurse for 25 years. On August 18, 1962 she married her beloved husband Anthony F. Barnao. In Dorothy’s younger years, she enjoyed horseback riding with her horse Flash. Dot enjoyed many hobbies, such as square dancing with her husband, ice skating, sewing, writing poetry, and traveling. She also loved watching the New York Yankees. Throughout her life, Dot always possessed a strong catholic faith. In addition to her husband Anthony, Dorothy is survived by her son Mark Barnao, his wife Wendy, and their children Anthony and Zachary. Dot is also survived by her sister Elizabeth Platt, her husband Frank and three nephews Frank, Richard and David Platt. Dot’s family would especially like to thank Jane Weaver, who was Dorothy's care giver for 29 years. Funeral Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
