Obituary of Susan J. Chadbourne

Susan J. Chadbourne, daughter of the late Norman and Dorothy Stevens Chadbourne, passed away peacefully, September 29, 2016 at Ellis hospital. Survivors include her sister and caregiver, Anne Sylvester of Burnt Hills, niece Kimberly Sylvester (Robert Strazewski) of Burnt Hills, her nephew, Jon (Robin) Sylvester of Tempe, AZ; great nieces, Nicole Huse of Phoenix, AZ and Holly Anderson of Pleasantville, WI; Great great nephews, Landon and Aiden. Susan is also survived by her cousins Vaughn (Helen) Fowler, Wayne (Tim) Fowler, Rosemary (Bob) Porter, Barry Fowler, Dwight (MaryJane), Maureen and Leslie Fowler. She was also predeceased by Jan and Glenn Fowler. Susan was a graduate of Sleepy Hollow High School in Sleepy Hollow, NY and the University of Maine. She worked as a manager at the General Electric Company in Schenectady and the Attorney General's Office for the State of New York. She was an active member of the sorority Alpha Phi and for many years was responsible for her class reunions. Other memberships included the G.E. Retirement Club and the Jayncees. Susan was involved with the Hugh O'Brien Youth Leadership Foundation, and was voted as one of the outstanding young women of America in 1988. Her family would like to thank her neighboorhood family: Joy Walsh, Debbie Whitehead and Audrey Witkovsky for their love and support. Special thanks to the hospice Oncology wing a Ellis Hospital for their understanding, compassion and care. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 3, 2016 at 11 am at Burnt Hills United Methodist Church with Rev. Gail Falsetti officiating. Relatives and friends may call at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd. Glenville Sunday from 4-7pm. Interment will be private at Maple Shade Cemetery in Scotia.
