Obituary of Regina Hoppe Ryan

Regina Hoppe Ryan, on Saturday, October 15, 2016, passed away peacefully at her home with family at her side. Regina was born in Schenectady, NY, the daughter of the late William David Groat and Regina Pauline (Swirska) Groat. She was a Scotia–Glenville High School graduate. Regina met and married Raymond B. Hoppe and they made their home in Glenville. Regina worked as a treasurer for the Scotia–Glenville School system, as well as a librarian’s aide and an administrative aide in the Lincoln School. Regina also worked in the State University system as an Administrative assistant. She loved to travel, read historical books and compete in floral competitions, along with her love of gardening. She enjoyed taking various college courses of interest to her, but not pursuing any particular degree. Regina had many dear friends and loved spending time with her three children and her two grandchildren. Regina’s husbands, Raymond B. Hoppe, Cecil F. Ellithorpe, and John Ryan predeceased her. She is survived by her daughters, Robin E. Hegg and Beth Hoppe Marchman; and her son, John R. Hoppe; two grandsons, Alexander and Gregory Hoppe. A Memorial Mass from St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 231 2nd St., Scotia will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, October 20, 2016. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery at a later date. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd., Glenville on Wednesday, October 19 from 5 to 7 pm.
