Obituary of Theresa Sammo

Theresa Sammo, 84, passed away peacefully at her home on October 21, 2016. Born on June 6, 1932, she was the loving daughter of the late Pasquale and Theresa (Cassillo) Giaquinto. A Schenectady area resident her entire life, Theresa entered the workforce following her graduating from Nott Terrace. She was employed at Newberry Knitting Company then later Campbell Plastics where she retired. She raised her family with love and attention. Theresa was known for her home made meatballs and sauce. She was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church. Theresa was predeceased by her beloved son, Dr. John P. Sammo, and her brother, Ernest Giaquinto. Survivors include: Her daughter, Marie (Sammo) McGuire and son-in-law Daniel P. McGuire; her longtime life partner Joseph Dunbar, her granddaughter, Tiana Marie McGuire (partner Matt Gaudin) and beautiful great grandson, Jaxson James Gaudin. She also leaves behind her two cherished nieces, Debbie Pirro and Marie Brown. Funeral services Wednesday (October 26) 8:45 am from Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anthony's Church, Corner Nott St./Seward Place. at 9:30 am. Calling hours will be held Tuesday evening 6-8pm at Glenville Funeral Home. Interment will be at St. Anthony's Cemetery, Glenridge Rd.
