Obituary of Frank Warren Mason

Frank W. Mason, 85, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2016 at the Van Rensselaer Manor surrounded by his loving family. Born in Brunswick, he was the son of the late James and Julia Roos Mason. Frank was educated at Sacred Heart School in Troy, was a 1950 graduate of Catholic High School and attended Hudson Valley Community College and Siena College. Frank proudly served his country in the Air Force from 1951 to 1955 and was stationed in both Japan and California. Following the Air Force, Frank married his beloved wife Dorothy Boule Mason on October 5, 1957 at St. Patrick’s Church in Troy. In 1993, Frank retired from Teledyne Gurley in Troy, where he was employed in various administrative positions for 38 years. Additionally, Frank was a lifetime member of the Mountain View Fire Department, serving as longtime treasurer. He was also a long time communicant of Sacred Heart Church. Frank's greatest joy and fondest memories were always from times when he was surrounded by his family. He enjoyed many trips with his wife Dorothy, brother Raymond and his wife Joan to Hershey, Pennsylvania. Frank and Raymond attended the antique car shows as Dorothy and Joan enjoyed the local shopping. Frank and Dorothy and their entire family also always looked forward to their annual vacations to Hampton Beach. One of Frank's favorite activities in later years was to attend local antique car shows with his sons and grandsons.

Frank is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years Dorothy, four children, David (Frances) Mason, Robert Mason, Linda (Brian) Fitzpatrick, and Jeanne (Robert) Heiserman as well as eight grandchildren Brittany Fitzpatrick, Kristin (Kevin) Hamel, Scott Fitzpatrick, Mark Fitzpatrick, Michael Mason, Lindsay Fitzpatrick, Lisa Mason and Marisa Heiserman. Frank is also survived by his sister Emma Ashe, sister-in-law’s, Mary Leah Mason and Phyllis Boule as well as 24 nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Frank was predeceased by his siblings James (Ann) Mason, Letitia (Earl) Willis, Alex “Bud” Mason, Margaret (Donald) Patton, Raymond (Joan) Mason, brother-in-law’s Bill Ashe, Joseph (Nancy) Boule and Robert Boule.

Funeral services for Frank will be held privately for the family. Interment with military honors will be at Elmwood Hill Cemetery, Troy.
