Obituary of Jane Kimball McGarvey

Jane Kimball McGarvey, 67, of Scotia, passed away unexpectedly November 4, 2016. Jane was born in Niskayuna on August 22, 1949, the daughter of the late Edward and Kathleen (Furlong) Kimball. She was raised in Ballston Lake where she graduated from BH-BL Central Schools, class of '67. She went on to receive her bachelor degree from SUNY at Brockport. She was married on June 15, 1991 to her beloved husband, James A. McGarvey, recently celebrating their 25th anniversary. Jane taught private piano lessons for over 20 years. She was an active member of her church, where family and faith were most important. She was predeceased by her sister Kathleen Kimball. Survivors include her loving husband, James McGarvey, beloved daughter, Alexis M. (Ronald) Shaffer; cherished grandsons, John and David Shaffer. Jane leaves behind her brother, Jack Kimball; mother and father-in-law, Patricia and William McGarvey; her sisters and brothers in law, Beverly and Rich Keating, and William and Frances McGarvey; many nieces and nephews and special little dog Emily. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 9, at 10 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 52 Blue Barns Rd. Rexford.
