Obituary of Elizabeth A. Doherty

Elizabeth (Liz) Doherty, of Burnt Hills, passed away on November 6, 2016. She spent her last days with her family around her. Born in New York, New York on August 8, 1939, she was the daughter of Mary and Gerard McNamara. In June 1963 she married Bernard Doherty and they moved to Charlton in 1967. They were married for 44 years. Liz was predeceased by her parents, brother John McNamara and her husband Bernard. She is survived by her children Michael Doherty, Eileen Hulme (Robin), Jean Ferris (Marty Kesel) and Matthew Doherty (Brenna Muldoon). Liz is also survived by six nieces, five nephews and six grandchildren. Liz loved her family, friends, neighbors and her colleagues. She enjoyed her first career with the Saudi Arabian Oil Company and then her second career with the State of New York Civil Service. Calling hours will be held at the Glenville Funeral Home, Friday, November 11, 2016 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held at Our Lady of Grace Church on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Liz made an anatomical gift to the Albany Medical Center.
