Obituary of Raymond Stradone

Raymond J, Stradone, 81, passed away peacefully January 28, 2013 at Ellis Medicine. Born on April 8, 1931 in Amsterdam, NY he was the son of the late Burt and Martha Stradone. Ray was married to the late Carolyn (Viscusi) Stradone. He was predeceased by his wife in 2001. He graduated with an associate degree from HVCC. Ray was the 2nd longest tenured toll collector for the NYS Thruway, working primarily at exit 25. He and Carolyn enjoyed taking trips to Kennebunkport, ME, a favorite vacation destination and taking trips to visit their children and grandchildren around the country. He was a longtime member of St. Joseph's Church in Scotia and the Scotia-Glenville Senior Center for the past several years. Ray enjoyed learning from books and always eager for information relating to a variety of subjects. He an active individual right up to the time he recently took ill. His beloved son, Mark Stradone, passed away on May 24, 2012. Ray was also predeceased by his siblings Arthur, Paul and Irene Stradone. Survivors include his daughter Raeann Stradone of Miami, FL, two brothers, George (Sally) Stradone of Silver Spring, MD, Joseph (Esther) Stradone of Amsterdam, NY and daughter-in-law Diane Stradone of Edmond, OK; grandchildren: Jessica Edmunds, Ryan Stradone, Amy Stradone and Lindsey Council; several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, February 2nd at 9:30 AM at St. Joseph's Church, 236 First St. Scotia with Rev. Peter Russo officiating. Interment will follow at Schenectady Memorial Park. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend and may also call at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd. Glenville Friday from 6 PM to 8 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Assoc. or to the American Heart Assoc. in care of the funeral home.
