Obituary of Louis A. Ruggiero

Louis A. Ruggiero, 95, of Glenbrook Drive, passed away on December 9, 2016 at the Glendale Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Louis was born in Schenectady on July 30, 1921 and was a lifelong area resident. He married the former Lucia (Lucy) Licciardello on September 28, 1946. Lou was a WWII Air Force Veteran ('43-45). For 12 years he was a deputy for the Schenectady County Sheriff's Department. Lou was employed by G.E. as a supervisor in Large Steam Turbines for 34 years. He retired in 1981. Since 1983 he and wife Lucy held part time residence in Winter Haven, FL and Myrtle Beach, SC. Louis was a communicant of the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Glenville, a charter member of the Niskayuna Elks and the Power Generation Professional Employees Association. The Ruggiero Family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Mohawk Trails at Glendale Home for the loving care Louis received. Surviving is his beloved wife of over 70 years, Lucy Ruggiero; two daughters, Frances Mathes of Glenville and Patricia Rothmyer of Scotia; grandson, Keven (Nicole) Mathes and great-grandchildren, Emma, Nathan, Zachary and Noah. Calling hours will be held on Monday, December 12, 2016 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd., Glenville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Glenville. Interment will be at St. Anthony's Cemetery, Glenridge Rd.
